COCHRANE - Heather Leah (Smith), age 53, of Stanley, passed away on August 28, 2016 at the VG Site, QEII after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 10, 1963 in Toronto, Ont., she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Vivian (Edwards) Smith. Heather was a loving wife, mother, sister, and best friend. Her warm smile and kind heart endeared her to those she knew and loved, and everyone she met. She moved from Mississauga, Ont. in 1981 to Scotch Village, where she worked at Scotch Village Gas & Convenience, and more recently at the Windsor Superstore. She loved camping, swimming, traveling, dancing, and tending her flower gardens, and had great compassion for animals. Heather will be dearly missed by her husband of 26 years, David; her children, Patricia (Brent), Alexander, and Spencer; her granddaughter, Emily; her brothers, Roland (Patricia) and Darryl (Rebecca); her sister-in-law and dear friend, Ann-Marie Cochrane; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Stanley Community Hall, 346 Hwy 236, on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 2pm. Private family committal at a later date. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses in the ICU at the VG for their genuine care and kindness.
