Obituary of Arthur "Art" Munro

Munro - Arthur Robert "Art", age 89, of Windsor, passed away on November 22, 2016 at Dykeland Lodge. Born on September 20, 1927 in Summerville, he was a son of the late Coleman and Olive (Tree) Munro. Art studied as he worked to become a Stationery Engineer, a Marine Engineer, and a machinist, working at sea on the Gypsum boats, Hydrographic Survey ships, the Barite mine in Walton, the shipyards in Halifax, and the NS Light & Power, retiring from the NS Power Corp. in 1988. Art is survived by special friend Gloria Spencer, Windsor; daughter Carol White, Kennetcook; sons Bill, Waterville, and Jeff, Red Deer, Alta.; grandchildren Annette, Elizabeth, Stephanie, Sonya, Krista, Margie, and Sam; many great-grandchildren; sisters Lorena Flemming and Dora MacKenzie; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Art was predeceased by sons Robert and Stephen; daughter-in-law Shirley; sisters, Helen, Hazel, Delta, Ida, Fae, Rae, Minnie, Carrie, and Mae; and brothers, John, Edward, and Donald. Cremation has taken place, with no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at Dykeland Lodge on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 2pm, Pastor Kayla Colford officiating. Donations in memory of Art may be made to Friends of Dykeland, 124 Cottage St., Windsor, NS, B0N2T0. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of J.
