BALDRIDGE - Joan Marie, age 76, of Kempt Shore, passed away on January 7, 2017 at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Mount Denson on March 29, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Lorna (Lake) Spencer. Joan was like a mother to many; she loved playing Bingo and tending the many birds that visited her yard. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and dog Sam and cat Moe-Moe. Joan is survived by close family friend, Neil Lake; sister, Helena (Art) Sanford, Centre Burlington; brothers, Lester, Larry (Debbie), and Donnie (Liz), all of Summerville; Kenny, Windsor; Bruce (Wanda), Lakelands; Brian, Upper Burlington; and Charlie (Janice), Brooklyn; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband, Grant; son, Howie; brother, John Malcolm; sister, Gloria; and sister-in-law, Sharon Spencer. Cremation has taken place; a Time of Reflection will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 2-4pm at the Summerville Fire Hall, Summerville, with a private family committal at Avon View Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of Joan may be made to Avonview Cemetery, c/o Mrs. Joanne Lake R.R. 1 Newport, Hants Co., NS B0N 2A0 or Summerville Volunteer Fire Department, 59 Summerville Wharf Road, Summerville, NS, B0N 2K0.
