Obituary of Vernon Wade Bartlett

BARTLETT – Vernon Wade, age 60, of West Gore. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Vernon, who lost his long and courageous battle with cancer on August 19, 2017. Born in Liverpool, N.S. on August 23, 1956, he was a son of Elizabeth “Betty” (Huskins) and the late John Bartlett. He will be greatly missed by his spouse of 32 years, Donna Singer; sisters Elaine (George Buchanan), Kathy (Blaine Singer), Carol (Jack Westlake), and Julie (Terry Frail); brother Johnny (Susan); mother-in-law Minnie Singer and family; many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; and his furry friend “Henry”.  Vernon worked in the construction industry all his life, last with Ocean Contractors Ltd. until his illness. Special thanks to Dr. Darrell White and nurses at QEII Cancer Care, Dr. Michele MacLean, the Palliative Care Team at Hants Community Hospital, and Rev. Angus R. MacDonald. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request; a memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 26 at 2pm at West Gore Disciples Church, Rev. Angus R. MacDonald officiating, with interment in West Gore Cemetery and a reception to follow at the West Gore Fire Hall.
