Obituary of Myrna Lillian Phillips
PHILLIPS – Myrna Lillian, age 94, of Debert, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 17, 2017 at Debert Court, Debert. Born in Falmouth, NS on August 11, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Gilford and Ethel (McKay) Lantz. Myrna met Frank Phillips while he was posted at the Towers in Newport, NS during WWII. Upon their marriage in 1945, they moved to Calgary, then to Ontario in 1968, and settled in Tennecape in 1982. Myrna was a homemaker and loving mother, who also assisted Frank with his business as a goldsmith. After a massive stroke in 2007, Myrna’s tenacity helped her regain some of her strength and ability. She spoke often of the loving care she received from the staff during her seven years at Debert Court, for which the family is very thankful. Myrna is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Greg) Laska, Maitland; her grandchildren, Karen (Steven) Tremblay, Timmins, Ont.; and John (Robin) Laska, Truro; her great-grandchildren, Daniel and Justin Tremblay; sister-in-law Yvonne Ross, Calgary; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frank; son, Gil; and brothers, Arnold, Raymond, Orland, and Carlton Lantz. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 27 at 1pm at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook. Rev. Natalie Buchanan-Rutherford officiating, with a reception to follow at the Noel United Church. Interment at a later date.
