Obituary of Darrell Wade Wilcox

WILCOX – Darrell Wade, age 54, of Cambridge. It is with great sadness we announce Darrell's sudden passing at home with his loving wife by his side on April 2, 2018. Born in Windsor on March 3, 1964, he was the son of his loving parents, Aubrey and Shirley (Starratt) Wilcox. Darrell was the most kind-hearted and giving man who would (and did) do anything he could to help anyone. He enjoyed his days spent outside, keeping busy with his dogs Bear and Roxy close by his side. Darrell had the patience of a saint, and always saw something good in everyone. He will be remembered most for making people laugh, and for his own contagious laughter. Darrell was a loving husband and best friend to his wife of 24 years, Carol (Benedict); a protecting dad to his daughters Amanda (Jeremy) and Samantha (Leonard); and a super hero Bampie to his 3 grandchildren, Jackson, Serenity, and Destiny. Left with fond and cherished memories are his brother, Brian (Bonnie) Wilcox ; sisters Shawn (Laurie) Gould and Shannon (Jim) Coolen; mother-in-law Doreen Benedict, brother-in-law Wade (Julie), sister-in-law Heather, and many nieces and nephews. Darrell was predeceased by his father-in-law Reid Benedict. Cremation has taken place; visitation will be held at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Summerville on Sunday, April 8 from 6-9pm; Ryan Brown will share a few words of remembrance and anyone else is welcome to share as well. Speaking and special music will start at 7:30pm. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Darrell may be made to High Head Cemetery c/o Paula Lake, Cambridge, RR1 Walton, NS B0N 2R0;  the Dr. Arthur Hines Breakfast Program, 75 Musgrave Rd, Summerville, NS B0N 2K0 or the DAHS Parents Group.
