MILLER – Gerald “Ged” Glave Winston, age 93, of Noel Road, passed away suddenly on May 10, 2018 in Kennetcook. Born in Northfield on April 2, 1925, he was a son of the late Lina (Miller) White. In his younger years, Ged worked in the woods, then as a carpenter in Halifax before retiring from the Department of Transportation in Noel Road. He was a well-known and active member of the community, attending ball games, card parties, and local dances. Ged will be dearly missed by his wife of 62 years, Gloria (Dickson); his children, Roger (Starlene), Findley Road; Dana (Teena), Burntcoat; Bliss (Carol), British Columbia; Winnie (Allister), Gormanville; and Troy (Florence), West Gore; grandchildren, Kendell, Joel, Sherry, Amy, Nathan, Barbie, Cody, Tyra, Mahayla, Erin, and Ivar; 15 great-grandchildren; five brothers and one sister. Besides his mother, Ged was predeceased by seven brothers, two sisters, and a grandson, Anthony. Cremation has taken place with no visitation or reception by request; a graveside service open to everyone will be held on Wednesday, May 16 at 2pm at St. James Presbyterian Cemetery, Noel Road, Rev. Angus R. MacDonald officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Presbyterian Cemetery c/o Goldie White, White Settlement Road, RR2 Kennetcook, N.S.
