Obituary of Margaret Lake
Margaret Lake, age 92, of East Walton, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2018 in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Scotland on April 30, 1926, she was a daughter of the late James and Helen (Patterson) Newlands. Margaret was a member of the Tenecape United Church and the Board of Sessions. She was secretary of the church, taught Sunday School, was a chartered member of the Ladies Auxilary of the Walton Shore Fire Dept. and the East Walton Community Club for many years, and belonged to the Seniors Group in Walton. Margaret enjoyed the Friday night jams, The Lexicons (which she won once) and enjoyed quilting. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Margaret is survived by her daughter Janice, sons Roderick (Joy) and Robert (Deborah), 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren, son-in-law Ed Hosick and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Melvin, daughter Sandra, sister Janet Dill and brother James Newlands. Cremation has taken place with visitation Tuesday May 22, 2018 from 7-9 pm and a memorial service Wednesday at 2 p.m., both in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215, Summerville, N.S. Rev. Alex Mosher officating with burial in Tenecape Cemetery. Donations in memory can be made to the Tenecape Cemetery c/o Mavis Aza, 871 Hwy 215, East Walton, N.S. B0N 2R0.
