Buddy (Harold Earle) Hilchie, age 71, of East Uniacke, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018, at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor NS. Born in Burntcoat, NS on September 24, 1947, he was the son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Gorman) Hilchie. Buddy worked outdoors his entire life, first on the family farm, then logging, then as a heavy equipment operator. Give Buddy a dozer (the bigger the better) and he was happy. He was also an accomplished welder. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Antique Engine and Tractor Association in Windsor and loved restoring old engines and tractors. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Eva (Rafters); daughter, Shannon (Paul); sons, Scott (Dee) and Matthew (Chrissy); grandchildren: Patrick (Jessy May), Jessie, Emma, Tyler, Allie, Cody, and Cory; great-grand daughters, Violet and Abigail; sisters: Sheri, Joanne, Colleen, Connie, and Vicki, and brother Dale. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother in infancy. Cremation has taken place; visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 with a memorial service on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at 3pm, both at St. Paul’s United Church, Mt. Uniacke, minister Lori Crocker officiating. Private family burial at later date. Family flowers only please.
