Obituary of Eugene Wood

Wood, Eugene Morton "Gene"-85, Walton, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2013 in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Moosebrook, he was a son of the late Calvin and Charlotte (Reynolds) Wood. Gene worked for Dresser Minerals for over 25 years and continued in mining and carpentry until his retirement. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and will be dearly missed by his family and many friends as well as his grand dog "Bentley" and his close friend "Mr. Alexander".. Gene is survived by his wife Marjorie "Marge" (Lake), daughters Bev (Tom) Parlee, Upper Sackville, Carol Wood (Terry Miller), Falmouth and son Stephen (Trudy), Upper Sackville, grandchildren Eddy Parlee, Dave (Judi) Parlee, Jami Wood (Mike Gillis) and Derrick Wood (Melissa Peterson), great grandchildren, Sandra, Josie, Jack, Brad, Emma and Mitchel, brother Don (Jean), Quebec and many nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by his sons Gary, Kevin, Calvin and one in infancy, sister Gertie Lake and brothers Harry and Harris.
Cremation has taken place with visitation Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and a memorial service will be held Monday, April 29, 2013 at 2 p.m. both in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215, Summerville, Pastor Betty Parker officating with a private family burial in the Grace United Church Cemetery, Walton, followed by a reception in the Walton Fire Hall. Donations in memory can be made to the Walton Shore Fire Dept. C/O Shannon Coolen 9000 Hwy 215, RR#1 Walton, N.S. BON 2RO.
