Demont- Laurie Elmer, age 76 of Upper Nine Mile River, passed away suddenly at home on June 20, 2019.  Born in East Gore on June 13, 1943, he was a son of the late James and Pearl (MacLeod) Demont.

Laurie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Katie (Anthony), daughters Jerri (Todd) Sparks of Elmsdale, NS and Paula (Lyle) Ganert of Fox Valley, SK; grandchildren Adam, Tyler, Matthew, Samuel, Sara and Daniel; brothers Perry (Carol) and Gary (Shirley); sisters-in law Cheryl, Ruby and Blanche, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by sister Freda White, and brothers Ronald, Carl, James (Chum), Roy, Larry and Gordon in infancy.

Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life will be held at 11 am Thursday, June 27 at J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, 6571 Highway 354, Kennetcook, NS, followed immediately by a private family interment at Sand Hill Cemetery, Upper Nine Mile River.

 A reception for family and friends will be held following the service at Upper Nine Mile River Community Hall, 11 Slate Quarry Rd., Upper Nine Mile River, B2S 2Z5, NS. Donations can be made in memory of Laurie to the Upper Nine Mile River Community Hall or Sand Hill Cemetery.
