Catherine Joyce Whattam (nee Carter) passed away at home on August 17, 2019 at the age of 75.  Born in Sampsonville, Cape Breton, NS she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lila (Sampson) Carter.  She resided in McKay Sect, Hants Co. with her loving husband Howard of 55 years.  As her family grew, she became deeply involved with the Hants West Home and School Association, teaching Sunday School and the Catholic Women’s League.  Once her children started to leave the nest, she went back to work to Tim Hortons then to Cooks Choice and the Superstore where she retired in May.  She was a 31-year member of RCL Branch 009 in Windsor.  She loved to go hang out with her friends after work and shoot the breeze at the same table every day.  She also loved to help out in the kitchen with banquets and could always be counted on to pitch in when needed.  Joyce loved summer flowers and was so happy when growing baskets on the deck.

Besides her husband, Howard, Joyce leaves behind her children, Martin Carter, Sampsonville; Marilyn (Chris) Barkhouse, Mosherville; Jo-Ann (Harry) Jackson, McKay Section; Wayne (Wendy), Eastern Passage; Tracey (Richard) Cole, Devon, AB; Tara-Lee, Windsor;  Joyce had 15 Grandchildren, Jamie, Valerie, Christina, Nicole C, Sarah, Jarrett, Joseph, Jessica, James, Nicole G, Alexandria, Jacob, Tegra, Marcus and Maria.  Those grandchildren blessed her with 21 great grandchildren whom she loved with her every breath.  She is also survived by brothers Melvin (Judy), Wayne (Mary-Ellen), Dwight (Joyce), Reid (Yvonnie), Sisters Ann Oram, Carolyn (Doug) Leavitt, Donna Boudreau.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her Sister Mabel (Johnny) Latimer, brother Carl (Cecilia), brothers in law Roger Whattam, Joe Oram and Jackie Boudreau.
