Eldridge, CWO Medford “Grant” - age 77, of Upper Kennetcook passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro, NS. Born in Windsor Forks, NS on December 6, 1942 he was a son of the late Edward and Kathleen (Hiltz) Eldridge. Grant is survived by his beloved wife Mary Lou (White), sons David (Cheryl) and Douglas (Tanya), grandchildren: Meaghan (Santanna), Kevin and Abby, great grandchildren: Austynn and Leland, sister Donna Cluett (Ben), brothers: Bill (Sandy), Owen (Janet), Karl (Lucy), Lewis (Joan), Gary, and sister in law Joan Eldridge. He is predeceased by Brothers Douglas (infancy), Wayne, Victor and Sydney. Grant served 30 years combined in the Navy/Air Force as an AVN Tech on the Sea King helicopters. He enjoyed his career with the military Along with hunting, fishing, cooking, construction, and most of all his gardening. There wasn’t anything Grant could not grow. He loved his weekly card parties bringing his homemade jams, baked goods, and his famous chow-chow that everyone loved. Every year Grant grew and donated his red rhubarb to the church for their annual rhubarb pie Frolic. Every Christmas the family couldn’t wait to have his famous mouth-watering seafood chowder for Christmas lunch. Grant loved to talk and tell stories of serving his country and how he travelled the world and experienced more than he could have ever imagined. His infectious Laugh and smile brought joy to all who knew him. His kindness and generosity helped many in time of need. He will be sadly missed by all and forever in our hearts and his family traditions will continue with each generation. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the nurses of the palliative care team, especially Trudy, VON, family doctor, Dr. Ellis, palliative care doctor, Dr. Smith, Dr. Kelly and Respirologist Aaron LeBlanc. Cremation has taken place. Due to the current Nova Scotia Health regulations concerning the Covid-19 Virus, there will be a private family graveside committal service held at a later date in the North Noel Rd Cemetery.
