White, Madeline Gertrude – 87 of Elk Court, Brookfield formally of North Noel Road, NS. With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our dear mother on August 4th, 2020 at Elk Court, Brookfield, with family by her side. Born in Walton on February 1st, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Della (Burgess) White.
Madeline had various careers throughout her life. As a young bride, she worked as a cook in the logging camps and at The Carpet Factory for many years. Madeline is best remembered for owning/operating Madeline’s Diner and the Saturday night dances at the Green Hall, as well as the family run campground “The Bayview”. In her later years, she was a caregiver to many.
Madeline’s true passion was her family and she supported them in all their endeavors. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and love of card playing, cookies, chocolate, jewelry, and dancing.
Madeline is survived by and will be dearly missed by her children Rena, Jocelyn (Jim), Lancelot (Doreen), Charles (Joy), Chrystal (Art), Margo (Doug), Richard (Dawn). 15 Grandchildren, 20 Great grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild, and her niece Sonya (Ray).
She is predeceased by husband Clair, sister Nora, brother Terry in infancy, son in law Allen MacAskill, brother in law Max White.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the tireless and compassionate care shown by the staff at Elk Court.
There will be a private funeral service held in the J W Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook. Rev. Angus R MacDonald officiating. There will be a private family burial in The North Noel Rd Cemetery. Donations in memory of Madeline can be made to the North Noel Rd Cemetery.
