Obituary of Roland Hilchie

Hilchie, Roland “Rollie” – 81 of Lower Selma passed away Tuesday, September 8th, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. Rollie died as he lived, on his terms and in charge. Rollie was born October 27th, 1938 in Sterling Brook, Hants Co. NS. He was the son to the late Ernest and Kathleen (Dean) (Gorman) Hilchie. Rollie was self employed, running backhoe/ truck after returning home from Alberta where he worked on the pipeline. Later doing dairy farming for a few years before returning to heavy equipment, running his own business with his son Mark. He is survived by wife Effie (Densmore), daughter Cindy (Bruce) Withrow, sons Wade (Denise) and Mark (Kelli Fletcher). Grandchildren, Robin, Alex, Avery, Audree and Hannah, sister Sandra Hines, brother in law Leonard Green, Patra Foorte, Brian’s partner and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by, sister Sheila Green, brother Brian and brother-in-law Murray Hines. Family would like to thank staff at Colchester East Hants Health Authority, Cancer Centre QEII, East Hants Palliative Care and VON for all the help during this difficult time. Rollie’s wish was to be home to the end. Cremation has taken place and a public graveside service will be held Saturday, September 12th, 2020 at 2pm in the Lower Selma Cemetery, Lower Selma. Pastor Linton Worrall officiating. Due to Covid-19 social distancing will apply outside of your bubble. If wish to sit please bring a chair.
