Obituary of Doris Ettinger

Ettinger (White), Doris Adeline - 77 of North Noel Road, passed away peacefully at home on January 12th, 2021. Born August 6th, 1943 in North Noel Road. Doris was the daughter of the late Melbourne “Bun” and Catherine White. Doris’s brother Albert passed suddenly, just hours after she lost her battle with cancer. Doris graduated from Teacher’s College in Truro, in 1962. She taught many children during her 35 years of teaching. She continually upgraded her own education, while teaching and raising her family. In her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Many happy summers were spent camping at Evangeline Beach, where she made many friends. Bowling, cards and bingo were among her many activities, she was always on the go, something to do or somewhere to be. Doris was very active in the community often fundraising for the Community Club and church. Doris is survived by her spouse Laurence. Children, Ricky (Darlene), Greg (Robin), and Julie. Grandchildren, Kelly (Michael), Tiffany (Jacob), Shayla, Amber and Chad. Sisters, Mary Lou Eldridge, Kathy Gillis, sister-in-law Paulette White, brother-in-law Mike Gillis, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her daughter, Lisa Dawn, brothers, Gary and Arden, and brother-in-law Grant Eldridge. Thank you to the VON and Palliative care, who made it possible for Doris to be home, where she was most comfortable. A special thank you to Mary Lou, Kathy and Paulette for always being there. A graveside service will take place in the North Noel Road Cemetery on Sunday August 1st, 2021 at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doris’s memory to St. Pauls United Church Cemetery fund ℅ Bruce Fletcher 8172 Hwy 354 Kennetcook, B0N1P0, or a charity of your choice.
