Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph Alcide (Al) Savoie - 46 Born August 27, 1965 Cherished husband, beloved father, a priceless friend to so many. It is with broken hearted sadness that we share the news of Al's passing. After a valiant battle with cancer, he has finally been called home. He is survived by his wife Debbie (Wheaton), their son Jacob and their daughter Shaelyn. Also surviving Al are his mother, Helene Morais, sisters Yvonne, Ella, Mai, Lillian, brothers Aristide and Bernard. He was predeceased by his father Emile and his sister Emilie. Al was born in Tracadie, New Brunswick and lived there until he joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1986. He did tours in Bosnia and Timor and after being posted to Quebec, returned to Halifax where he and his family settled in. Al was a loyal Boston Bruins and New England Patriots fan; Sunday afternoon football was a passion that he and Deb shared enthusiastically. He was an avid golfer and the highlight of his summers was going on the special golf trip to PEI with his brother Aris and a few buddies. He also enjoyed trying out various courses in the Maritimes with some of his close friends. Many thanks to the nurses and doctors on 3B, 5A, 8A, and 7A of the Centennial Building in Halifax. Such was his reputation of being "the nicest guy" that whenever he was moved to a different floor, the nurses from the old floor always came by to see how he was doing and to let him know that they missed him. Words cannot convey the devastation that we feel at his loss, but the angels in Heaven are smiling broadly over the arrival of their newest tenant. Until we meet again my love, every day that passes will feel like a lifetime. I miss you so, my heart is shattered. Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215 Summerville with burial of ashes at a later date. Donations in memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Hwy 215 Summerville, Ph. 1-902-633-2431 or please visit our web site at www.allenfh.ca to sign the guest book or send condolences.
