Crossley, Marion “Mickey” Louise - 84 of Cheverie passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 12, 2021, after a brief illness in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Mickey was the daughter of the late Glenna Harvey and James Wood. She was raised by her grandmother Laura Harvey. Mickey was a devoted mother and is survived by; children Kirk Crossley, Cheryl (Curt) Garand, Karleen McGinnis, Gina (Kevin) Spares, Barclay (Lily) Crossley, grandchildren Jason McGinnis, Kirby McGinnis, Allison (Paul) Walter, Tyler (Dawn) Crossley, Dylan Garand, Taylor Spares, great grandchildren Zackery, Ava, Cole, Ryan, sisters Joanne (Charlie) Mason, Faye Thompson, Susan (Les) Wears, sister-in-law Alice Crossley and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mickey is predeceased by husband Merton, brother Earl (Janice) Walker, brother-in-law Harold Crossley, special friend Ervin Lake and infant great-grandson Casper Crossley. Mickey’s early years as a mother were dedicated to raising her children. She cared deeply for her family and friends and was an active member of the community and Cheverie United Church. Many will remember the Tasty Freeze business she operated for several years. She was later employed with the Thrifty Credit Union until her retirement. Mickey loved to bake and was well known for her donuts, tarts, and cookies. Other hobbies and interests included quilting, music, dancing, reading, and collecting teapots. Her door was always open to everyone including her children’s many friends. Good times were shared and remembered by all. Her connection with newfound siblings brought much joy to her later years. She will be remembered by family and friends as someone who was strong, determined and fiercely independent. Most of all, she loved her family and instilled in her children, strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. The family would like to thank the staff at the Hants Community Hospital for their invaluable kindness and care. A private family Graveside Committal Service will take place on Saturday, November 27th, 2021, in the Cheverie Cemetery. A reception will follow open to public in the Summerville Fire Hall from 1 to 3pm. Proof of Covid-19 vaccinations along with identification will be required from individuals age 12 years and older.
