Obituary of Frederick McLellan

McLellan, Frederick Howard "Fred"- 71, Westphal Mobile Home Park, Dartmouth, formerly of East Walton, N.S. passed away Sept 13, 2013 at home with his loving family by his side. Born on October 20, 1941 in East Walton, Hants Co. he was the eldest son of the late Jack Howard and Lillian Bertina ( Davis) McLellan. Fred left school at the age of 17 to work for Geldart Poultry Farm, Cole Harbour for 7 years. He started as a labourer for W. Eric Whebby Ltd. in the summer of 1966. He was employed there for 36 years, working himself up to machine operator. In 2002, he went to work as an operator for Trax Construction and remained there until his retirement in October of 2010. He is survived by his loving wife, Muriel (Laffin) of 49 years and his loving daughters, Glenna (Chris Chambers) Dartmouth, Ruby Smith (Brian), Greenwood, and loving son, Nelson (Birgitt), Porters Lake. Grandchildren: Amanda, Shelby and Shane Chambers, Travis West and Jacob Smith, and Abbie and Sophie McLellan, and honorary grandson, Matthew Thompson. Sisters: Dianne Laffin, Moosebrook, Hants Co., Eleanor Horgan, Veralyn Newton (Kerry), Pam Houle (Chris), both of East Walton, Hants Co. Brothers: Billy (Cassie), Moosebrook, Hants Co., Jackie (Madeline), Timmy (Marie), both of Cambridge, Hants Co., Herbie (Connie) Bramber, Hants Co. Sister in law Edie McLellan, East Walton, Hants Co. Many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by, a sister, Doreen in 1966, brother Jim in 2007, and brother in law, Reg in 2013. Visitation will be held for family and friends on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 2-4 and 7-9 pm in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Highway 354, Kennetcook. Funeral will be held on Monday Sept. 16 at 2:00 pm in the Noel United Church, Noel, Hants Co. Following the service burial will be in Tennecape Cemetery, Tennecape. Reverend Natalie Buchanan-Rutherford officiating. Family flowers only.
