Please share a memory of Judy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patterson (Lake), Judy Carolyn, 71, Summerville-It is with profound sadness that Pam, Jeff and their families announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. Mum passed away at home on March 31st, 2023, with her canine friend Minnie by her side. Judy was born in Moose Brook, NS at her grandparent’s home on November 22, 1951, to Bradley and Thelma (Laffin) Lake. She grew up in Summerville, surrounded by family and friends. She shared a beautiful and happy life with her husband Laurie, becoming a beloved family member to his extended family. Together they raised their children and welcomed grandchildren with love and joy. Our mother was born to be a mother; that soft, but solid place to land when you needed it and that never changed. She welcomed all children and loved being “Mum” to so many of our friends. She was more than Grandma to Abby, Adrienne, Gabe, and Ethan. She was whatever they needed her to be; kind and gentle hands, a playmate, a friend, or even someone to fight with. She always thought of all of us first. Mum was a natural animal whisperer. She could charm most any pet to do what she wanted. She nursed many animals back to health with her magical ways. These animals were devoted to her. Sometimes (often?) we were told that they were her favourites. Ouch! Judy became involved in the Kempt United Baptist Church as a child and continued to be a member of that community throughout her life. Judy was involved in many aspects of the church during this time, but it was when she was working with the children that she was most happy. There are many children who will love and remember her as their Bible School teacher. Judy is survived by her daughter Pam and grandchildren Abby, Adrienne, and Gabe of Summerville, son Jeff (Heather) and grandson, Ethan of Greenwich, sister Marlene (Owen), sister-in-laws Dorothy Mahaney, Debby (Russell) McLellan, Denise Rudolph, Marilyn McLellan, brother-in-law Stephen Rudolph, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Judy was predeceased by her husband, Laurie, her parents, Bradley and Thelma Lake, brother-in-laws Blair McLellan and Wayne Mahaney, and parents-in-law Leslie Patterson and Hazel Patterson. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7th, 2023, at the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Summerville between 6 and 8pm with a memorial service at Summerville Baptist Church, Summerville on Saturday, April 8th, 2023, at 2pm. Pastor Betty Parker officiating.
