Obituary of Grant White

White, Grant Sanford – 88 of Enfield formerly of White settlement, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2023, with family by his side at Magnolia Continuing Care in Enfield. Born in White Settlement on October 25th, 1934, he was a son of the late Addison and Lina (Miller) White and son-in-law of the late Loran and Emma Neil. Grant worked in construction in his earlier years and then in the forestry industry until his retirement. He was very athletic, playing baseball then old-timers baseball, golf, bowling and darts. Grant was an avid hunter, loved fishing and enjoyed card parties. For many years, until they were no longer able, you could find he and Laura kicking up their heels at a local dance each weekend. Grant is survived by his wife of 64 years, Laura (Neil) who also resides at Magnolia; sons Richard (Sherri), Upper Rawdon and Tim (Ruth), White Settlement; grandchildren Kyle (Leah), Kristyn (Ryan), Justin (Lindsay), Shanda (Shane); brothers Hollis (Grace), Orlee (Darlene), Donald (Faye); sister Christina; sisters-in-law Gloria Miller, Shirley White, Janie White, Doreen Cox, Adeline Henniger, Doris Neil; 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Grant is predeceased by; brothers Gerald “Jed”, Malcolm, Wallace, Milton, Robert “Bobby”, brothers-in-law Curtis Parker; Reginald Neil; and sisters-in-law Joyce McLaren, Iona White, Linda White A Graveside Committal Service will be held on Tuesday, May 16th, 2023, at 2pm in the St. James Presbyterian Church Cemetery, White Settlement Rd, Rev. Mike Poworoznyk officiating. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to St. James Presbyterian Church Cemetery fund or a charity of ones’ choice. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Honeysuckle Cottage at Magnolia for the wonderful care Grant received specifically in his final days and for the warm compassion shown to his family during this difficult time.
