Harvie, Estel Doreen, the most amazing jewel and part of our hearts left us July 20, 2023, in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Gormanville, on October 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Maude (White) Harvey.

In her 87 years, she had many jobs besides raising her family. She retired from the Cara Flight Kitchen in 2000, after many years of dedicated service.

She was an extraordinary mother, grandmother and friend, known to many as Granny. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, cooking and baking. She was famous for her apple pies and donuts.

She is survived by her children Amelia (Lee), Brenda (Brian), Walter, Edna (Mike), Michael (Dawn), stepdaughters Gail and Wendy, son-in-law Donnie, 7 grandchildren Tammy (Davey), Julie (Shawn), Jamie (Carolyn), T.J., Courtney (Matt), Thomas and Meghan, 3 step grandchildren Jeff, Duane and Michelle, 10 great grandchildren, sisters Marina, Kennetcook, and Marilyn of Dartmouth, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son Gerry and her daughter Wanda, sons-in-law Barry and Norman, sisters Sylvia, Gladys, Maggie, Hazel, Annie, Mahala and two in infancy, brothers Harry and Ercil and two step grandchildren Joey and Tim.

Many thanks to the VON nurses who cared for Mum at home and the palliative care team at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside committal service (open to all) will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 2 pm in the North Noel Road Cemetery, North Noel Road, Rev. Mike Poworoznyk officiating.
