It is with sadness the children of June Miller, 91 of Windsor formerly of Upper Kennetcook, announce her peaceful passing on Sunday October 15, 2023, in Dykeland Lodge Windsor. Born in Avondale on June 21st, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Charles Ellsworth Sanford and Mable Elsie Connors.
Mum’s focus was her family and friends and loved spending time with them. She loved animals, especially cats, and listening to old time country music (her favorite singer was Charlie Pride). She loved going for a country ride with an ice cream cone, going to church, watching her favorite TV shows and having family and friends visit and spending time with them. Mum will be remembered as a great baker (pies, homemade bread, homemade beans and donuts were her speciality) and for her kindness.
Mum spent the last few years at Dykeland Lodge in Windsor, and she would often say “they are so good to me.” We want to thank the staff for the loving care you showed our mum, especially during the pandemic, we are truly grateful.
She is survived by her children Beatrice (Cyril) Harvey, Patricia (Jim) Singer, Karen (Leslie) Ettinger, Shawn Miller, Kendall (Hershey) Miller, Shannon (Pam Simm) Miller; grandchildren: Dustin Harvey, Melanie Harvey, Angela Callaghan, Lisa Singer, Michael Ettinger, Michelle Poirier, Taylor Simm and Bria Simm and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters, Joan Custance, Marilyn Macphee, Sharon Greber and her longtime friend and sister-in-law, Doris Sanford.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Robie Miller, infant son, Dale Miller and grandson, Donavan Ettinger; brothers, Stanley and Lester Sanford; sisters, Hazel Elliott, Jean Salsman, Marina Bowes, and Marie Demont.
Mum’s wishes were for a graveside ceremony with family and close friends at her beloved church, St. Peter’s in Upper Kennetcook. The service will be held Thursday, October 19th at 3pm, Rev. Glenn Eason officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Peter’s cemetery fund c/o Verna Fenton, or for Alzheimer’s research – Alzheimer.ca.
“What we have enjoyed deeply, we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes part of us.” Rest in peace mum, you are forever in our hearts.
