Currie, Maxine Shirley – 75 of Enfield, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the Magnolia Continuing Care, Enfield. Born on September 24, 1948, in Windsor, Maxine was the daughter of the late William “Bill” and Marguerite Elliott of Upper Rawdon.

Maxine married her loving husband Hugh Grant Currie in 1967, later they would have 4 children together. Maxine loved being a mother and would do anything for her children.

Later in life Maxine became a grandmother and great-grandmother; she loved this role and proudly shared pictures and stories of her grandbabies with everyone she could.

Maxine was a self-proclaimed and known “bookworm”, she loved to read true crime and horror novels, not what one might expect when first meeting her.

She loved her job, working at Oakfield Golf Club to the day she retired. Maxine will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Maxine is survived by children Dion (Cissy), Shannon (Gerry), Devon (Shelley); grandchildren Erin, Chantel, Mandi, Samantha, Cienna, Brandy, Thomas, Jessica, Kobe, Kelsie, Deven, Erika, Ethan; great-grandchildren Brayden, Tyson, Jaxson, Taya and Malcolm.

Besides her parents, Maxine is predeceased by husband Hugh Currie, brother Cyril Swinamer, son Darcy Curry and grandson Tyler Curry.

A service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 2pm in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, Rev. Mike Poworoznyk officiating. A Private Family Burial will take place at a later date.
