Fred Church Obituary

The family of Frederick Murray Church are saddened to announce his passing on May 23rd, 2024. Fred passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Dykeland Lodge. He was born April 28,1944 to George & Minnie Church (Burke). Fred lived in Union Corner the majority of his life.


Fred was predeceased by his parents, George & Minnie Church, wife Sharon (Meehan), partner Nancy Lunn, her son Tracey Lunn, Brothers Robert Church, brother-in-law Jim Williams, sister-in-law Lois Church, nephew Ben Church.


Fred is survived by son Murray (Jake) Church (Tracy), Daughter Brenda Church (Jason Lunn). Brothers Raymond (Mary), David, Dell (Cheryl), Reid (Sandra).

Sisters Mary (George), Susan (Bernard). Sister-in-law Diane. Grand children Jessica Rafuse (Nash Davis), Cody Lantz (Emma Monteith), Rachel Young.

Great grand children Kylee Rafuse, Brooks Davis, Jeffery Davis. Stepchildren Tim Lunn (Dorothy McCarthy), Theresa Lunn (Brian Burton).

Fred is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews where he left a special part of him in their lives.


Fred started his career as a heavy-duty mechanic at N.S. Tractors and then continued his career at Halterm, followed by Fundy Gypsum. Fred and Sharon purchased Church’s Esso Service Centre operating for 17 years. He ended his heavy-duty mechanic career back at Halterm.


Fred enjoyed many hours at his cottage in Hall’s Harbour with Sharon & family. Also travelling the back roads of Nova Scotia.


There will be no funeral service as per Fred’s request. A private family interment will take place at a later date. We will announce a celebration of life at a later date.


Donations in memory of Fred may be made to Friends of Dykeland Lodge, 124 Cottage Street, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0, Canadian Cancer Society, Parkinson’s Canada or charity of your choice.
