Obituary of Robert Skelhorne

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert " Bob" Edward Skelhorne who passed away peacefully on November 26, 2013 with his family by his side in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Born in Halifax on December 14, 1928, he was the son of the late Charles and Bessie (Ettinger) Skelhorne. Bob was an Electrician who was well respected amoung his peers. He worked for Arthur & Conn Limited for many years and Provincial Electric before working independently in the 1980's. He could be called on day or night to assist on any electrical issues. Bob was known for his loves of Trucks specifically FORD TRUCKS and Hunting. If there was a kitchen card party to be had, you could be sure to find Bob there actively participating. Bob is survived by wife Una (Perry), Noel, his children Dennis (Hughena),Falmouth, Connie (Bruce) McKinnon, Dartmouth, Fred, Burntcoat, Dwaine (Joanne), Minasville. 11 Grand Children and 11 Great Grand Children, Sister Joan (Lloyd) Hazlett, Chelsea, Sister-n-Law, Lillian, Montreal. Bob was predeceased by Brother Fred and Sister Gwen White, (Pat). Bob was a faithful provider to his family and he will be greatly missed. Our thanks go out to the nurses and home support staff of the Victorian Order of Nurses for their tireless dedication to his care over the years. In lieu of flowers the Family request that donations be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Colchester Branch or to the Hospice Society of East Hants. Cremation has Taken place with visitation Friday Nov. 29, from 7-9 p.m. and a memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. both in the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, hwy 354, Kennetcook, Pastor Bruce Steeves officating with a private family burial in the Burntcoat Cemetery, Burntcoat followed by a reception in the Noel Legion.
