Obituary of Mae Dodds

Please share a memory of Mae to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
DODDS, Mary (Mae), of Truro, formerly of Selma, NS. After several years of loving care and companionship selflessly provided by her devoted daughter, Catherine, Mae quietly passed away on July 18th, 2024, in her 90th year. Mae was preceded in death by her husband Bill and her younger brother Duncan. Mae and Bill emigrated to Toronto, Canada, after marrying in 1954, in Belfast, Northern Ireland. After raising their three children (Elizabeth, Catherine, and Billy), they enjoyed many years together in retirement in Nova Scotia, Canada prior to Bill’s passing on New Year’s Eve in 2007. Mae (and her chatty telephone calls) will be missed by her large and loving family including Elizabeth’s husband (Steve) and family, and scores of close devoted friends in Canada and Northern Ireland. She will be remembered for her generosity, thoughtfulness, beautifully crafted handmade knitwear, and loyalty to her favourite pro golfers and Manchester United players. She was fondly known as Auntie Mae to many and will be reminisced about for years to come. Mae’s family sincerely thank the many caregivers and staff at Cedarstone nursing home for the kindness, care, and support shown to her over the past year. In keeping with Mae’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home, Kennetcook, N.S. Phone (902) 362-2440 or please visit our web site at www.allenfh.ca to sign the guest book or send a private condolence. “When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me Remember the love that we all shared, miss me - but let me go.”
