Obituary of Tom Lake

Please share a memory of Tom to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Thomas Aubrey Lake – 64 of Tenecape, born in Windsor on January 15, 1960, Tommy was the son of the late Aubrey and Pauline Lake (Mclellan). Tommy will be remembered for his witty sense of humor. He always had people laughing with his jokes and stories of the past. He made friends with everyone he met. He was a self-taught jack of all trades. He could usually be found either working on cars, working on “the old house”, or tending his garden. He enjoyed many summers fishing along the shore of the Minas Basin with family and friends. Tom always lent a helping hand to friends, family and neighbors. He lived his life giving the shirt off his back, to those he cared for and loved, and he never wanted or asked for anything in return. In recent years Tom donated blood regularly and he was looking forward to his 25th donation, however his illness happened so quickly he was unable to accomplish this goal. Tommy will be missed by all who knew him especially by his children Thomas Levi Lake “Lee” and Megan Lake. We will always remember dad’s life hacks and the adventures we had with him. Some of our favourite memories were walking through the woods looking for brooks to fish in and building fires on the beach to have wiener roasts. Tom has 30 years of fond memories spending time in the Annapolis Valley with the love of his life, Lynn Swan and her children. Tom is also survived by his brother Roger (Cathy) Lake, sister Teresa (Kevin) Lake. Nieces, Angie (Jack) Laffin, Laura Lake, Melody Laffin. Nephews Mark Custance, Michael Lake and Douglas Laffin Stepchildren; David and Robert Stronach, Saralyn (Josh) Reid. Grandchildren Landen, Scarlett and Duncan; Niece and nephew Claire and William Green; too many other in-laws, friends and family to mention them all. A few I will mention are friends and neighbors who were like family to him Ricky and Malcolm Beckman, Brian Newton, Carmen McLellan, Trevor Taylor. Dad thought a lot of you all and enjoyed being your neighbor. Besides his parents, Tommy is predeceased by his sister Sherry (Jim) Conley. Nephew, Craig Custance. Many friends, family and neighbors who he spoke of often and missed. Special thanks to the staff at Valley Regional Hospital especially ER staff where dad spend most of his hospital stay, VON and Palliative Care. Donation of organs and cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place, at a later date TBD. Dad would encourage anyone who is interested and able to donate blood and/or organs to do so because doing so can save lives. Other donations could be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Valley Regional Hospital, VON or Palliative Care. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the J. Wilson Allen Funeral Home Hwy 354 Kennetcook, N.S. phone 1-902-362-2440 or please visit our web site at www.allenfh.ca to sign the guest book or send private condolences.
