Smith, Harold, 88, of Garlands Crossing, formerly of Cheverie.

It is with broken hearts that we, the family of Harold William Smith, share the news of his passing on December 28, 2024 at the QEII Hospital in Halifax, NS.

Born in Lower Burlington (Riverside), NS on May 21, 1936, and growing up in Cheverie NS, He was the son of the late Raymond and Annie (Rhodes) Smith.

Harold was a friend to many and anyone who met him loved him, unless of course you met him on the ice and worst case, you were a referee. Harold's passion in life was his family, and he did everything he could for them. He also enjoyed woodworking, playing and watching hockey and of course the Montreal Canadiens. He spent 32 years working for Domtar Packaging in Moncton NB and living in Riverview, NB. Upon his retirement, he and Margie moved back to Cheverie, where they enjoyed life in the country, until moving to "The Crossing" in Garlands Crossing, NS.

Harold is survived by his Wife, Margaret (Merry) Smith, to whom he was married for 61 years, his daughter Suzanne, son Darin, grandchildren Krystina (Parker), Justin (Olivia) and Victoria (Taylor), great-grandchildren Landon, Willa, Winnie, Hudson, Carter, Jane and Jasper, as well as his brother Dexter (Barbara) and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Annie Smith, sister Joyce Hargrove, and brother Raymond "Bud" Smith.

Cremation has taken place. At Harold's request, there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will take place on January 18, 2025 from 2-4pm at the Summerville Fire Hall, where Harold's extended family is invited to join us to celebrate his life. A private burial will take place at a later date.
