Burgess, Eldridge Eugene "Eldie", passed away peacefully at the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth on January 7, 2014. Born in Walton, Sept. 8, 1935 he is a son of Loretta May "Ret" Smith and stepson of the late Lawrence Smith. Eldie once worked as a woodsman, scaler at the gypsum mill, miner, grocer, campground owner and as a contractor. He loved camping, dancing, music and playing the guitar especially with the band "Ebb Tide". He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Eldie is survived by his wife Maureen (Parker), daughter Tanya (Peter) Manuge, grandson Jason (Kate) Manuge, sisters Elizabeth Sexton, Alice Gould, Hazel (Warren) Dill, brother Frederick (Marge) Smith, step brother Burpee (Evelyn) Smith and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son Miles Daniel, brother-in-laws William Sexton and Tommy Gould. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Monday, January 13, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the Windsor Elms Village Hall, Windsor Elms, 174 Dyke Road, Falmouth. Pastor Debby Mosher officating with a private family burial at a later date. Donations can be made to the Windsor Elms Chaplaincy Fund or the Alzhiemers Society.
