I knew Madelon as my grade 4 teacher just before, during, and after the move from the 2-room school to the new school. My family occupied the UC manse from 1960 to 1963, so we were neighbours, and we got freshly-separated milk (with a little cream on top which was a treat to my Mom) from her. I loved her being my teacher in grade 4!
Belated condolences to Marven and family. I hope this reaches you.

I did not know Madelon but my Mom, Verna Hatfield (Spicer) often spoke fondly of her. They attended the Provincial Normal College together, graduating in 1942. I still have the class picture from that year. My Mom passed away in 2013 but I'm sure she would want me to extend my condolences to Madelon's family at this sad time.

Since returning to Nova Scotia several years ago, "Auntie" was so dear to us and became a role model to our family. A strong, independent, beautiful soul. A confidant and wealth of knowledge. We enjoyed many get togethers, family dinners and we cherished including her when she was available. She will be remembered affectionately always as "Auntie". Our condolences Marven, Cheryl, Joel and Shannon.

Prayers and condolences to Madelon's family. Although I did not know her well I do remember when I was in grade 6 and she was the principal of Cobequid Consolidated. That seems so long ago and I guess it was. The move from our little school in Minasville to Noel was made some much easier with her in charge.

I got to know Madelon very well as I often came to Noel to visit with my sister, Rev. Joy Noble. I have such great memories of Madelon’s wicked sense of humor, her quiet empathy and compassion, and her deep love of home, church and community. Her life was a blessing to anyone who got to know her friendship. Sincerest condolences to family and friends. Homer Noble and Ron Hopper

Marvin and Cheryl and family,
Please accept my sympathy at Madelon’s death ... while we hadn’t been in touch for awhile, she and I shared a wonderful friendship. We put a lot of miles on her car and spent many happy times together. I will always cherish her support and love.
God bless,

my first memories of madelon was as my grade 4 teacher just after moving fr a one room school- fro, there i would see her at various community functions--always with a smile on her face and lovely laugh --in later years i had the previlidge of assisting her and even if she was only 15 days younger than my dad -she was smart as a whip at doing word puzzles --and the last one we did had to do with books of the bible-why she said as she rhymed them off we not only had to memorize them in sunday school but also regular school---she will be missed
