Hennigar, Madelon LaVera – 98 of Noel, passed away peacefully Monday September 21st, 2020 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Walton on May 25th, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Inez (Smith) Sanford, and she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Madelon graduated from Normal School institution in Truro with a degree in education in the early 1940s. She spent many years teaching in various schools along the Noel Shore and surrounding area. Madelon later acquired a position as principal at Cobequid District School, Noel and finished out her career at Cobequid Consolidated Elementary, Old Barns. After retirement she enjoyed travelling, playing cards, cheering for the Toronto Blue Jays, and watching curling. She is survived by Son Marven (Cheryl) Hennigar; grandson Joel (Arilea) Hennigar, granddaughter Shannon (Ivan) Hennigar; great grandson Daegan Hennigar, sisters-in-law Georgie Sanford and Vera Sanford; many nieces and nephews; special friends Becky Neil, Linda and Bruce Giles, Mary Barkhouse and Marjorie Thompson. Madelon is predeceased by husband Foster Hennigar; son Rodney at birth; brothers Garth Sanford, Ronald (Elizabeth) Sanford, Arthur Sanford; sister Betty (Edson) Wright. Cremation has taken place with no visitation or service by request. Donations in memory of Madelon can be made to the Pembroke Cemetery C/o Alan Wilcox, Pembroke, NS, B0N 2R0.
